Welcome to AQUAROM

October 27, 2025

We're excited to announce the launch of the AQUAROM project website!

This platform will serve as the central hub for our international research initiative on resilient aquaculture outbreak management, spanning from Northern cold waters to tropical environments.

About AQUAROM

AQUAROM (Resilient Aquaculture Outbreak Management from Northern Cold to Tropical Waters) is a 4-year research project (2026-2029) focused on developing cost-effective, AI-powered solutions for aquaculture disease management.

The project challenges conventional approaches by proving that cost-effective, data-driven solutions can rival expensive, high-tech monitoring systems.

Our Mission

We aim to develop and validate cost-effective, AI-powered aquaculture disease management frameworks by:

  • Optimizing sensor configurations to eliminate redundancy while maintaining reliability
  • Creating AI-driven predictive models that detect disease outbreaks with limited data
  • Conducting field trials and cross-validating across different environments
  • Building capacity through international knowledge transfer
  • Engaging policymakers and industry stakeholders

International Collaboration

AQUAROM brings together leading institutions from three countries:

  • Norway: NORCE Norwegian Research Centre (Project Lead), Manolin AS
  • Philippines: Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology, University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 7, HOC PO Feed Corp
  • Indonesia: Brawijaya University

What's Next?

As the project progresses, this blog will be regularly updated with:

  • Research findings and breakthroughs
  • Field trial results
  • Publications and technical reports
  • Student progress and milestones
  • Workshop summaries
  • Collaboration opportunities

Get Involved

We're looking for:

  • PhD candidates
  • MSc students
  • Research collaborators
  • Industry partners
  • Stakeholders interested in aquaculture innovation
